Brazilian exchange student finds life in America "easy"
By MacKenzie Sunday

Tiago Carvaho
Tiago Carvaho, an exchange student who attended A.C. Flora High School, returned to his hometown of Piracicaba, Sao Paulo, Brazil January 17, 2008. The 16- year- old arrived in S.C. July 20, 2007, and stayed for a semester at Flora. "People in school were very friendly and helpful, and everything in the city was so clean," Carvaho said.

Carvaho learned a lot about American culture during his stay , but he missed his family and friends back in Brazil. His favorite American food is corndogs.

"The most surprising thing about America is how school was easy; life in America is very easy," said Carvaho. Many of his American classmates asked him about the driving age in Brazil, "The Brazil driving age is 18," he said. Jennifer Millersm one of Carvaho's classmates, said, "I loved having Tiago in my class. It was great to get to know him and learn about his culture."

Carvaho plans to return to S.C. in a year and hopes to go to an American college, maybe College of Charleston.
