Woodworkers extraordinaire
By Jackie Perrone jacper@juno.com

Jim Timmons
It's been 10 years since the Columbia Presbyterian Community added a workshop to its campus. On February 2 of this year, the handymen and crafters who use the equipment there put together a show of their handiwork.

Items on display include a cradle, rocking chair, rocking horse, cabinet, table, music stand, trays and plates and dishes, and two imposing grandfather clocks. In addition to these samples, many items of furniture such as chests, beds, and armoires have passed into other hands and are not now available to show.

The residents who have taken up this hobby come from diverse backgrounds including a doctor, a contractor, and a nuclear scientist. Jim Timmons, Dozier Ragsdale, Bob Perry, and Jack Wilson showed their work, and in addition, there were items handcrafted by two former residents now deceased: Jim Perrone and Alex Black. The show is scheduled to be on display until February 16.
