DAC national president to speak in Columbia

Mrs. Gary Lyle (Georgia Carbaugh) Holder, national president of the Daughters of the American Colonists, will be the principle speaker of the day at the society's annual meeting known as the Assembly February 23, 2008, beginning at 9 am at the Columbia Country Club in Blythewood.
Chapters in S.C. are urged to attend and show their support for their national leader. The state regent, Mary Armstrong, will conduct the business meeting and lunch will be served.
Holder joined DAC in 1966, her national number being 19229. She attended her first General Assembly in 1967. In addition to being president, nationally, she has be a corresponding secretary, historian, treasurer, National Officers Club treasurer and president.
At the state level, she has been the regent, recording secretary, corresponding secretary, and chaplain. In her chapter, she has been regent, recording secretary, and corresponding secretary. She has also been national chairman of printing and General Assembly marshall.
In her home state of Virginia, she is a golden acorn. While Virginia State regent, she wrote the history of the Virginia DAC as her project.
Holder graduated from the Medical College of Virginia with a BS in nursing and has a national certification in operating room nursing. She is a member of the Shenandoah Valley Chapter of the Association of Operating Room Nurses. She wrote a book on the care of teenager published by the Richmond, Virginia, Health Department. In 1995, she was awarded the Judge Elliott D. Marshall Award for Outstanding Community Service.
Holder's work in the 4- H Clubs is renown. For 15 years she worked with 4- H and is a member of 4- H All Stars. She lived in India in 1970- 71 as a 4- H exchangee. A week- long carnival for children with cancer was coordinated by Holder for 20 years.
She has a son and a daughter and even finds times for hobbies.
