The City should go paperless The City of Columbia said in 2002 or 2003 they were going to use paperless billing for some of their water bill customers. As usual, politicians and government employees tend to stretch the truth. I listed some of the reasons for going paperless, e.g., no postage, eliminated envelopes and not to mention the return envelope enclosed w/ the other mess of paper. I even suggested to have the employees call the customer and just tell them the amount of the water bill, if they were on electronic billing, as I am. It truly is sad to see a government agency wasting tax payer money. Another suggestion they ignored, was to combine the county and city government, thus reducing many dual offices and reducing taxes. The City of Philadelphia PA did that many decades ago, and they are a lot bigger than Columbia and Richland County, S.C. All politics. Andy Koin |
