The University of South Carolina Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution met at noon February 22 at the Fort Jackson Officers' Club for its annual luncheon. Chapter Regent Mary Caldwell presided.

The address was given by the State Regent, Ms. Bonnie Glasgow of Columbia, who spoke on the pleasures and vicissitudes of being in that office and traveling the state of South Carolina to various meetings in that capacity.

Eight 50- year members, now in the "Fifty Year Club," received recognition. A 15- year- old member of the Children of the American Revolution, Miss Sagen Blackwell of Greenville, was a special guest, presenting a resume of her work on the "Wounded Warrior Project," which sends packages of needed items to injured servicemen in hospitals.

Additionally, the winner of the American History Essay contest this year, Miss Kathryn Vickers of Dreher High School, read her prize essay. The previous regent, Mary Cruce, gave the defense report, which in honor of African- American History Month, told of the numerous heroes and heroines of African descent in the American Revolution.
