Spring Valley High School news

Four Spring Valley High School Teacher Cadet students: Melissa Frierson, Brittany Roether, Rebekah Sanchez, and Brittany Woller, have been awarded Teaching Fellows Scholarships of $6000 each year for all four years with a commitment to teach in a S.C. school after graduation. Their teacher is Nancy Scott.

Ashwin Shahani has been honored for his exemplary volunteer service with a state- level Certificate of Excellence from the 2008 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program. Hewas among the top 10% of all applicants from S.C. in this year's program.

The SVHS Gospel Choir attended the Path Mark Gospel Choir Competition in Manhattan, New York at the World Financial Center on the weekend of February 16, 2008. This was their first appearance at this competition. Spring Valley HS won 3rd Place in the Youth Division, which was comprised of 11 choirs throughout the nation.
