The visiting Heathwood Hall Highlanders scored nine goals on 13 shots in the fourth quarter to put away the inaugural Hammond Skyhawk lacrosse team 18- 6 Monday, March 18.

Will Kennemur led the barrage for Heathwood Hall scoring three of his game- high six goals in the final quarter. Burk Knowlton added all his four goals in the fourth quarter, and Adam Mandell scored two of his three goals in the final quarter for the Highlanders. Jack Moorman added three goals, and Joseph Walker and Greyson Farthing each scored a goal for Heathwood Hall.

The Skyhawks struck first when Ross Bogan scored one of his two goals a little over four minutes into the contest, but the Highlanders rattled off eight unanswered goals over the next 12 minutes to take an 8- 1 lead. Hammond's James Walker then scored back- to- back goals to get the Skyhawks within five.

The teams traded goals to end the third quarter. Kennemur found an opening for his third goal. Then Hammond's James Hyatt followed that with a shot 15 seconds later to make the score 9- 4.

Heathwood Hall's Darnall Bailey sprints toward open field.
The Highlanders' experience took over in the fourth quarter. Kennemur flipped a shot behind his back 22 seconds in, then 26 seconds after that Burk Knowlton broke loose and scored putting Heathwood Hall up 11- 4. The Skyhawks would get scores from Kris Simmons and Bogan again, but the outcome was never in doubt.

The Highlanders improve to 3- 0 and will host Ridge View March 19 and Fort Mill March 20. They will travel to Durham, N.C. to face Durham Academy March 27 followed by a trip to Salem, Va. March 29 to play Patrick Henry HS.

The Skyhawks drop to 1- 5 and will not play again until April 1 when they host Fort Mill.
