Volunteers give students much more than their time

      More than 3,000 parents, college students, business people, grandparents and ordinary citizens give to Richland One students every day as volunteers, mentors, Lunch Buddies and tutors. On March 7, the district recognized its most outstanding volunteers at a breakfast in their honor.

Creighton Boggs honored at Hootie and the Blowfish Party Animals event

      Creighton Boggs was awarded the SCBT Day Maker Award for her contribution to the community at the Hootie and the Blowfish Party Animals event on March 14th. Boggs, who is 13 years old, was selected because of her selfless dedication to raising money for homeless animals.

Nurse wins award for helping the uninsured

      Healthy Learners, an organization that works to provide access to health care for uninsured and underinsured children in S.C., recently honored Carolyn Duff, RN, school nurse at A.C. Moore Elementary, as the recipient of its 2008 Dee Dee Chewning Healing Award.
