Lower Richland Ruritan Club celebrates Liberty Day with Burnside Elementary students

The Lower Richland Ruritan Club presented a Liberty Day program to Burnside Elementary fifth grade students March 20, 2008. Lisa Dixon, LR Ruritan president; Rudy Bear, Ruritan members: Bill Joy, committee chairman of Citizens & Patriotism; James Amick; Martha Amick; Pam Clark; Casey Clark; and Stan Stanek gave out Liberty Day booklets containing the Constitution to all the students of teachers Jernay Ford, Jacqueline Benson, and Carol Evans, CRT.
The LR Ruritans introduced two distinguished Americans to the children. Stan Stanek, a retired Lt. Colonel of the U.S. Air Corp. and a member Lower Richland Ruritan Club, discussed The Constitution and his combat flights during WWII.
Brigadier General Stan Hood, retired Commander of McIntire Air National Guard, gave examples of how reading and a good education protects one's American civil liberties. B. General Hood related how having knowledge has benefited our American history, families, the American military, political candidates, and other individuals.
