Saterlee Hall at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral was the scene of spring colors and smiling faces April 26, 2008. Heathwood Hall Episcopal School had a festive morning
called Fifth Grade Mother
and Daughter Workshop
that celebrated being a fifth grade girl and being the mother of one. The day started with Mrs. Katherine Robinson, the fifth grade teacher, explaining how important these times are in a girl's life. She shared her favorite mother daughter quotes, one of which was "What the daughter does, the mother did." The girls and their mothers attended three different classes. The first class featured Heathwood alumni who told their own fifth grade memories, some embarrassing and funny, and some were painful, but all of them related to a young girl's daily life.
The most common advice given was for the girls to remain true to themselves. The second class was a conflict resolution class hosted by Mr. Robert Horak, the middle school guidance counselor. The girls expressed conflicts with their mothers and learned new ways to resolve them. Each mother and daughter received an informative packet about how to communicate with each other.

The last class was a make- up class hosted by Millie Lewis Modeling and Talent Agency. The girls were taught how to apply natural looking make- up they might wear later when their parents allow it. Following the make- up session was a fashion show hosted by the Lilly Pulitzer store, Pink Sorbet. The girls dressed up and modeled bright new fashions.
The day ended with lunch and a better understanding between mothers and daughters.
