Richland One School Board names three finalists

The Richland One Board of School Commissioners has narrowed its search for the district's new superintendent to three finalists:

Dr. Gerald D. Dawkins

• Dr. Gerald D. Dawkins, a native of Spartanburg, SC, who has served as superintendent of the Saginaw Public Schools in Saginaw, Mich. since 2001;

• Dr. Percy A. Mack, a native of Savannah, Ga., who has served as superintendent of the Dayton Public Schools in Dayton, Ohio since 2002; and

• Dr. Craig Witherspoon, a native of eastern North Carolina, who has served as superintendent of the Edgecombe County Public Schools in Tar- boro, N.C. since 2006

The finalists will be in Columbia on Tuesday, May 6 for interviews with the school board in the morning and visits to district schools in the afternoon. Community members will have an opportunity to meet the finalists during an informal meet- and- greet reception from 6- 7 pm in the Richland One Hall of Fame Room at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
