Sandy Streisel was recently awarded the 2008 Bobbi Rossi Memorial Scholarship. (L- r) Dean Peggy Hewlett, USC College of Nursing; Sandy Streisel, 2008 scholarship recipient; Terri Rossi Boyle, Bobbi's sister; Ann Marie Rossi, Bobbi's mother; and Jennifer Strohmeier, previous scholarship recipient.
Sandy Streisel is the 2008 Bobbi Rossi Memorial Fund College of Nursing scholarship recipient. Streisel is a rising senior at USC in the College of Nursing whose desire is to work as a neonatal nurse. The scholarship provides $6,000 towards annual tuition.

"The privilege of receiving this scholarship is not about the money or even about the pride of being chosen to receive an award," said Streisel, "but more about what the scholarship itself represents. Listening

to stories from Bobbi's family has given me insight into what an enthusiastic, caring, dedicated and determined young woman Bobbi was. I feel Bobbi would have made an amazing nurse, and it means so much to me to have been chosen to follow in the footsteps of such an honorable person."

Bobbi's sudden death in 1984 led the Rossi Family to establish the Bobbi Rossi Memorial Scholarship Fund as a way of perpetuating her powerful presence in the community. Each year, the Community Foundation awards two scholarships in Bobbi's memory to students who not only possess the dedication and spirit illustrated in Bobbi's life but also hold the power to reach and touch others as illustrated today in Bobbi's legacy. One scholarship is for an upperlevel nursing student at USC, and the second is for a rising senior at Cardinal Newman High School.

Central Carolina Community Foundation administers the Bobbi Rossi Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization serving 11 counties in the Midlands.
