Deneen wins award

Lee Deneen, a senior football player at A.C. Flora High School, won the 2008 National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar- Athlete Award Tuesday, April 22. The award is given to the top Scholar- Athlete in the Columbia area as judged by the Midlands Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. This award is given to the student- athlete who exhibits leadership on the football field, in the classroom, and in the community.
Students from over 25 Midlands' public and private schools are represented. Deneen will now represent South Carolina in the Southeast Scholar- Athlete competition. Those winners will be finalists for the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete award.
Deneen has a 5.1 GPA and a 1470 SAT and is in the International Baccalaureate Program at A.C. Flora.
