Vikings finish regular season a perfect 21- 0
The Vikings competed as they have all season with sound defense, precision passing, and a relentless offensive attack. Richland Northeast goalkeeper Kyle O'Grady had ten saves, some of which were spectactular diving saves. The problem was the Vikings ripped off about 37 shots on goal, while the Cavaliers managed just five. It was too much to ask of any goalkeeper. Michael Czulinski started the barrage for Spring Valley weaving through the Cavalier defense and punching in a goal just over six minutes into the game. Czulinski would score three more times and contribute several assists including one to Thomas Wollersheium that put the Vikings up 2- 0. The Cavaliers battled back five minutes later when Myles James's center pass got by a diving Will Frierson. It landed on the foot of Victor Alvarez who punched it in to make the score 2- 1 with 21:31 to go in the first half.
Zack Houghton and Brett Watts also had goals for Spring Valley. The Vikings will now look to defend their 2007 state championship when they open at home in the playoffs May 6. |
