Claudia Ainsley Howard and Gregory Scott Rhame were married in Shandon United Methodist Church May 10, 2008, at 6 pm. Dr. Michael L. Guffee Sr. performed the double- ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Jennings Yates Howard and Carl Francis "Doc" Howard. Her grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Mason Farquhar Yates and the late Dr. and Mrs. Carl Furman Howard of Gray Court, South Carolina. The bride elect graduated from Heathwood Hall Episcopal School, attended Converse College, and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS in retail management. She is employed by GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals.
The bridegroom is the son of the late Major James Lee Rhame Jr. and Sandra Ayers Williamson- Rhame. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fenton Williamson and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Lee Rhame and the late Elizabeth Early Rhame. The bridegroom graduated from Heathwood Hall Episcopal School and the University of South Carolina with a BA in history. He has served four years in the U.S. Navy. He is a managing partner of the Charleston Crab House in Columbia.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. The maid of honor was Emily Brooks Howard, sister of the bride, and Aimée Lewis Schraibman. The junior bridesmaid was Caroline Camden Schraibman. Honored friends of the bride were Elizabeth Booth Bivens, Cynthia Durham Blair, Stefanie Burg Chase, Lauren Kendall Corley, Mary Page Duffie, Lane Trzcinski Haselden, Elizabeth Bowen LaFitte, Sarah McMillon Long, Daisy Bouknight Miller, Mary Kathleen Owens, Sara Catherine Schraibman, and Caroline Gibbons Williams. The flower girls were Sarah Grace Schraibman; Elizabeth Carwile LaFitte; and Caroline McClintock LaFitte, goddaughter of the bride; and Nora Grace Ayers LaFitte.
Will Russell Shaw of San Clemente, California, served as best man. The groomsmen were Andrew Gray Howard, brother of the bride, and Carrington Rich Crabtree and Chandler Ryan Crabtree, cousins of the bridegroom. The junior groomsman was William Scott Bivens, bride's god son. The ushers were Thomas Bell Caskey; Corey Reagan Crabtree, cousin of the bridegroom; James Malcolm Curry Jr.; Rufus Ardee Johnson IV; Steven Stanley Juk III; Lucius Crawford Pressley; Clark Lewis Reed III; and William Preston Simpson III. The ringbearers were James Edwin Miller III, the bride's god son; William Lee Salter, the bridegroom's nephew; and Michael Clarke Schraibman Jr.
The reception took place at Leaside. The wedding cake was made by Margaret Bell Hane in loving memory of Anne Horne Yates, the bride's maternal grandmother. After a honeymoon to DeBordieu, the couple will reside in Columbia.
