The SC Legislative Republican Women's Caucus honors 2008 Woman of the Year

The South Carolina Legislative Republican Women's Caucus hosted a reception/fundraiser to benefit The Republican Women's Scholarship Fund. These funds are awarded to deserving young women all over South Carolina to assist with their higher education.

Former First Lady of South Carolina, Mrs. Ann Darlington Edwards was the 2008 Woman of the Year award recipient. Representative Joan Brady, Richland County, chair of the caucus said, "Mrs. Edwards has been an inspiration to us all as she continues to be very active in the Republican Party."

Mrs. Edwards co- authored

The History of the

Governor's Mansion of the

Palmetto State; established the Governor's Mansion Foundation, an eleemosynary foundation that resulted in the acquisition during the Edward's administration of more than two hundred antiques; and led the campaign to acquire a historic property, the Boylston House, completing the Governor's Mansion Complex.

Among the guests were the members of the Republican Legislative Women's Caucus, other legislators, Former Governor Edwards and family members, as well as, friends of Mrs. Edwards.
