The Falcons travelled to Northwood Academy for Game 1 of the 2008 SCISA AAA State Championship. Northwood Academy came into the game with a 26- 4 record and Ben Lippen entered the contest with a 23- 5 mark. Both teams threw their respective aces, Ryan Philpott for Northwood and Kyle Williamson for Ben Lippen.

Northwood would strike first scoring a run in the bottom of the third inning off of a drawn in infield and went up 1- 0.

The score would stay at 1-0, until the top of the fifth when Colby Edwards got a one- out single, then shortstop Mobley Jeter walked. Sophomore Joey Carter then singled to right field scoring Edwards from second. Pitcher, Kyle Williamson was intentionally walked and then catcher Blaine Walker hit a double to right center scoring the second and third run of the inning to give the Falcons a 3- 1 lead.

A pass ball scored the fourth run of the inning and a bases loaded walk generated the fifth Falcon run of the inning.

That would be all Williamson needed as he then cruised to a 5- 2 victory, giving Ben Lippen a 1- 0 advantage in the best of three series.

Williamson fielded his position well, picking a runner off of third and snagging two potential hits with his glove. Catcher Blaine Walker did not allow a steal and picked a runner off at first. Rick Davis made another diving catch to end a rally.

The Falcons welcomed Northwood Academy to Falcon Field on Tuesday night for Game 2 of the Best of 3 Series. It was a packed house at Falcon Field as the student body and fans were hungry for the school's first state title in baseball.

Senior Justin Norris took the mound for the Falcons and Northwood countered with side- armed, North Greenville signee, Brett Bullard.

The Chargers got on the board first scoring two runs in the top of the second. Ben Lippen answered with two runs of in the bottom of the inning to tie the score at two a piece.

In the fourth inning, the Chargers would again tack on two runs on three hits and a Ben Lippen error. But again, the experienced Falcons would answer with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Joey Carter got a leadoff single. Then Williamson followed with another single. Catcher Blaine Walker then drilled an RBI base hit.

The score would remain gridlocked at 4- 4 until the bottom of the sixth inning. Williamson lead off with a hard single to left. Blaine Walker then executed a sacrifice bunt moving Williamson over to second. Then, with two outs Williamson stole third base bringing the winning run only 90 feet away. The very next pitch was in the dirt and kicked away from the catcher. Williamson read it and scored the eventual winning run to put the Falcons up 5- 4.
